What is Reiki?
The healing art of Reiki (pronounced “RAY-key”) is a simple, natural, safe method of healing that anyone can use. The word Reiki is made from 2 Japanese words: Rei which means “God’s Wisdom” and Ki which means “Life Force Energy”. Reiki is a special kind of healing energy that can only be channeled by someone who has been attuned to it. Reiki is a pure form of healing, not dependent on individual talent or acquired ability. It is a healing art that was rediscovered by Dr.Usui in Japan during the early 1900’s and brought to the Western World in the 1940’s.
A Reiki treatment is given as a light touch on a fully clothed recipient. As a session begins most people experience a feeling of deep relaxation and warmth from my hands. Relaxation in itself promotes a host of benefits for the mind, body and spirit including a heightened sense of well-being, release of muscle tension, and relief from anxiety and depression. Reiki treats the whole person creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and a feeling of peace and calm.
There is nothing about Reiki that could interfere with conventional care. The touch is very light, there is nothing to ingest (such as herbs) so there is no interaction with prescription medicines. Reiki comes in & adjusts as necessary. Patients who are dealing with chronic illnesses are more likely feel well enough to continue treatments if they have Reiki treatments concurrently.
Once a person has been attuned to Reiki, they always have it. There are 3 levels of Reiki training. The first class is all a person needs to give Reiki to themselves or to family and friends. Review the information about Reiki classes and contact me to sign up for a Reiki class.
